    Annual advisory board meeting for 2023/2024

     Scholars and industry representatives discuss curriculum planning and development 

    Center for Gaming and Tourism Studies of Macao Polytechnic University held an annual Advisory Board Meeting recently. The meeting was chaired by an external expert, Professor Zhou Kaiguo, Dean of the School of Finance at Capital University of Economics and Business. Scholars and industry representatives came together to discuss topics such as curriculum learning frameworks, teaching methods, and research during the meeting. The delegates expressed full recognition to the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programmes in Business Administration held and organised by the Centre. 

     

    At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Wang Changbin, Director of the Centre, delivered a speech in which he briefly reviewed the progress the Centre has made in the areas of teaching and research over the past year. He specifically mentioned that the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO TedQual) conducted an evaluation and accreditation of the Bachelor and Master programs in Business Administration earlier this year in the Center. The preliminary feedback has been positive, and the Center is expecting to receive the official accreditation report in September this year. This marks a significant step for the Center in advancing towards international education standards. 

     

    Associate Professor Siu Kam-Hung, the Program Director of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), provided a detailed report on the teaching and learning situation of the BBA and MBA programs over the past year. He also mentioned that the enrollment of Master of Business Administration program had been well-received in mainland China, and the enrollment situation was satisfactory and promising. Professor Lai Ka-Wai, the Program Director of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program, reported on the preparation, enrollment and teaching plans for the DBA program. 

     

    Professor Zhou Kaiguo, the Chairman of the Advisory Board Meeting, along with industry representatives from six major local tourism and leisure enterprises, discussed and provided suggestions and recommendations regarding the Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programs in Business Administration. The meeting concluded successfully with fruitful and productive discussions as well as laying a solid foundation for the future curriculum and research development of the Center.
