    Research

    Prof Lai’s main research areas are research methods of tourism research, resident-tourist relationship, niche tourism, smart tourism, and MICE management. His research papers have been published in internationally renowned academic journals, including Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management, etc. Published 87 papers in SSCI/SCI journals (29 as the first author, 28 as the corresponding author), and two ESI articles (top 1% highly cited papers) (as of August 20, 2023). He has participated in a number of government-funded research projects, including the Macao Foundation, the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Trade and Investment Promotion Institute of the Macao SAR Government, the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, and the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund. The total amount of the project exceeds 22 million.
