The Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) recently organized a student research seminar for its postgraduate and undergraduate students. The seminar was held at the MPU Taipa campus on 7 April 2022. More than 40 participants, including students in the Master of Business Administration in Gaming Management and undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Gaming and Recreation Management, as well as the academic and research staff of MPU, attended the seminar.
Three outstanding research studies conducted by three postgraduate students in Gaming Management were presented at the seminar. The topics related to the impact of organizational support on the work performance of gaming employees under the epidemic situation, the relationship between psychological contract fulfilment, work engagement, and organizational citizenship behavior of non-gaming employees of Macau gaming companies, and the economic impact of Macao’s development of professional sports and open sports gaming were discussed respectively.
Since 2019, the Master of Business Administration in Gaming Management has been offered at the Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of MPU. There have been 20 MBA postgraduates and nearly 40 students enrolled the program at present, and most of them are industry veterans. These MBA students have conducted various types of research under the guidance of their teachers at the Centre, and the three research projects presented at this seminar show excellent theoretical foundation and a deep understanding of the gaming industry. The Centre aims to promote mutual learning and exchange among students through student-led academic conferences. With a positive atmosphere for academic research, students are encouraged to engage in the gaming-related management theories and applications. The seminar received active discussion from the participants, and various types of academic activities will be organized at the Centre in the future.
